"The greatest enemy to human potential is your comfort zone." -Unknown
Comfort zones, such a warm, cozy place to be. You know what I'm talking about. The place where you feel at ease. You don't feel overwhelmed and neither do you feel underwhelmed. It's just well, comfortable.
Well, recently I decided to step outside of my cozy, comfort zone and attend an event by myself. To you this may be no big deal, but to me, it was a step into a not so cozy, uncomfortable space. There was an event coming up in Chicago that I really wanted to attend. It was one of those last minute situations where it would be hard to find someone to go with me.
Normally, I would just miss out and not attend because I dare not show up alone. I mean, what if I'm the only one there by myself? What if I look lame being alone? What if I look out of place? All of these questions typically come to mind and there I go talking myself out of not going.
But not this time. This time, I decided to just go for it. I thought, "well, if later I talk myself out of going, I'll just cancel and not go." So, I picked up my phone and nervously called to RSVP for the event. When I hung up, I thought to myself, "you HAVE to go no matter what because you just RSVP'd and you paid money that you can't get back! Girl, you better go and enjoy yourself!"
So, I went. All by myself. Me, myself, and I. And what do you know? It was not bad at all that I was there alone. There were actually several others alone as well. I had a great time and even got a chance to meet some cool people. Had I not gone, I would have missed out on a great event and a great opportunity to meet good people.
So many times we stand in our own way and we limit our potential by staying in our comfort zones. If we never step outside of our comfort zones whether it be something as small as attending an event by ourselves or as big as starting a business, we will never know what's on the other side. Growth, success, and greatness may be waiting for you but you have to step outside of your comfort zone and get uncomfortable. What are you waiting for? Just do it!
Whether heels or sneakers, or anything in between, there's JOY in every SOLE!
Love, peace, and sole!
Here's last week's look with laces. I stepped out of my comfort zone and wore these over the knee socks with sneakers and I actually liked the way it turned out. Let me know how you feel about this look. Are you slamming it (thumbs down) or jamming it (thumbs up)?
