From Heels To Laces: Louisiana Love

"No matter how far the branches grow, the tree never neglects its roots."

I can remember being a high school senior applying to colleges and just the mere thought of leaving the state of Louisiana to attend college was more than overwhelming.  Fear gripped me in such a way that all I wanted to do was attend a college within a decent driving distance of my home and my family.  So, there I went, off to a school that was 4 hours away from home, which at the time, seemed so far away.

Fast forward to now, life has taken me to Mississippi, Texas, and now Illinois.  Never would I have thought that one day, that little, scary high school senior would ever leave her comfort zone of Louisiana.  Had I continued to let the fear that gripped 17 year old Destiney, I would have never encountered some of the amazing places and people God has blessed me to experience.

Now I know, that no matter how far I go, my roots are so deeply planted that you can take the girl out of Louisiana but you can't take the Louisiana out of the girl.  So, if you have been contemplating moving or even traveling outside of your comfort zone, go for it!  Home will always be home and you never know what blessings may be waiting for you on the other side!

Whether heels or sneakers, or anything in between, there's JOY in every SOLE!

Love, peace, and sole!
